What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is an Ayurvedic treatment that is non-evasive and is
performed while you are fully clothed. It is a safe, simple yet effective
massage that is suitable for all members of the family, including the elderly,
disabled and pregnant. The traditional Indian Head Massage is a holistic
approach that reflects the Ayurvedic approach to disease: recognizing that
prevention is better than cure. It is a versatile treatment that aims to
remove stagnant prana (energy) and replace it with fresh prana; this may
aid clear thinking, improve concentration and leave you feeling revitalized.
As with other holistic therapies, Indian Head Massage has been developed to
balance the whole person and relax everyday stresses in order to promote a
feeling of serenity and rejuvenation.
What to Expect
Following a consultation, you will sit fully clothed in a chair. The massage
lasts approximately 40 minutes and includes working on the upper back,
shoulders, arms, hands, neck, scalp, face and ears. The treatment also
includes balancing the chakras to encourage a balance between the body,
mind and spirit, which may stimulate the body to heal itself. The treatment
can be performed with or without oil being applied to the scalp and your
preference can be discussed during the consultation.
